The Voice of the Philippines Season 2 Coach Apl.de.Ap reacts to Lea Salonga’s earlier statement on how the audience should vote for the winner of the country’s most popular singing competition which will be having its grand finale starting tonight and will continue on Sunday wherein the winner will be announced.
According to Coach Apl.de.Ap in a recent interview with “Aquino & Abunda Tonight” the audience should vote not only because of the voice of the artists but also because of their story of inspiration. Coach Apl.de.Ap noted that the former sidewalk vendor Alisah Bonaobra should be the next winner of The Voice of the Philippines.
The member of the Us popular group Black Eyed Peas, Coach Apl.de.Ap also brought up Alisah Bonaobra’s inspiring story of helping her family get out of poverty.
When the singer was asked during the interview about his reaction with Coach Lea’s statement, that the artists’ stories should not be a factor in their chances of winning, coach Apl.de.Ap just replied: “For me, hindi po ito story, eh. That’s reality.”
Coach Apl added further that “It needs to be shared with people para maka-inspire ng ibang mahihirap [na tao]… A story can in inspire, a voice can inspire, but they have to go hand-in-hand,” he added.
During previous interview with Coach Lea, the Broadway star noted that “paawa at this point” is very cheap. She was quoted as saying “For any of them to make paawa at this point, it’s cheap.” She noted that abilities should prevail in the competition and not the story of the finalists.
