Makati Mayor Junjun Binay Headed to Senate After Being Issued a Warrant

The current Mayor of the country’s financial district, Makati Mayor Jejomar Erwin “Junjun” Binay headed to the Senate after being issued a warrant by the Senate Sergeant-at-Arms on Thursday morning, January 29, 2015. The Senate cited Mayor Binay and five others in contempt for refusal to attend the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hearings.

Mayor Junjun Binay is allegedly behind the overpriced Makati City Hall Building 2 and the Makati Science High School. The arrest of Mayor Binay was issued following the discussion of the committee where the validity of Sen. Teofisto Guingona’s contempt and detention orders were questioned.

Meanwhile, the Makati City Hall also noted in a statement that Mayor Binay is set to file a habeas corpus petition before the Supreme Court within the day.

The Senate sergeant-at-arms Jose Balajadia Jr. has served the arrest order on Makati Mayor Jejomar Erwin “Junjun” Binay, who was ordered detained for snubbing a Blue Ribbon subcommittee probe.

The supporters of Mayor Junjun Binay was also seen supporting their embattled mayor as they gathered in front of the Makati City Hall, expecting the serving of the arrest order on the mayor.
