Veteran Pinoy singer Noel Cabangon released a tribute album to one of the country’s most popular local band, the APO Hiking Society or simply APO. The album is named “Throwback: Ang Songbook ng APO.” Although there have been a lot of APO tribute album but Noel’s version is somewhat special because of his tag as “almost APO.”
The veteran soloist Noel Cabangon explained during the release of his album that his “almost APO” tag started many years back when he performed for the group when Danny Javier left, Jim Paredes and Boboy Garavillo was pleased with the outcome of the performance that they called him an “almost APO” member.
According to Noel Cabangon it was no big deal when he told one of APO member, Jim Paredes about his tribute album for the group, he also added that Paredes felt excited with the tribute album but never revealed Cabangon’s project until the album was done.
The highly anticipated album of Noel Cabangon contains 16 tracks which was carefully chosen by Universal Records Philippines and Noel Cabangon himself.
One of the most interesting part of the album is his duet with son Gabriel in the song “Batang Bata Ka Pa.” Cabangon also collaborated with Ogie Alcasid and Dingdong Avanzado for the song “Awit ng Barkada.”
