The Voice Kids of the Philippines grand winner Lyca Gairanod admitted during an interview that she cried when she was not given the opportunity to close to Pope Francis during the Family Gathering event held at the SM Mall of Asia Arena wherein she was tasked to perform the song “Tell the World of His Love.”
The 10-year-old Lyca Gairanod stated during an interview with Kris TV on Wednesday that she wanted to have a close encounter with Pope Francis so that the Pope could bless her personally.
Lyca Gairanod was quoted as saying “Umiyak nga po ako kasi hindi ko po siya nalapitan. Malayo po ako kasi malayo po ‘yung upuan namin. Sobrang layo po, doon po kami sa may hulihan,” she said.
Although the child singing sensation failed to come closer to Pope Francis, he still feels blessed that she was able to perform her rendition of “Tell the World of His Love,” as part of Pope Francis meeting with Filipino families. The said song was also used during the 1995 World Youth Day celebration held in the country where Pope John Paul II was the guest of honor.
During previous interviews, Lyca Gairanod admitted that she struggled with English songs, took some English lessons to perfect the pronunciation of the lyrics of the memorable song composed by Christian composer Trina Belamide.
