PAGASA: Low Pressure Area (LPA) Spotted Southeast of Mindanao (December 11)

The country’s weather bureau, PAGASA, released their December 11, 2014 weather bulletin, stating that at around 4:00 AM today, a Low Pressure Area (LPA) was estimated based on all available data at 1500 km East Southeast of Mindanao. If the LPA will formed into a Tropical Depression it will be named as “Bagyong Seniang.” The Northeast Monsoon (Amihan) will affect Northern Luzon.

According to PAGASA Visayas Director Oscar Tabada stated that Cebu will enjoy good weather until Friday despite the cloud formation monitor outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). Rain will be experience this coming Saturday in Northern Cebu and Eastern Visayas.

PAGASA forecasts that the Regions of Cagayan Valley, Cordillera and Ilocos Region will experience cloudy skies with light rains, while Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

The NASA’s Hurricane Web Page, also posted that they keep an eye on newly formed Tropical Low Pressure Area “System 96W,” which was previously located near 6.0 north latitude and 141.9 East latitude, about 310 miles southeast of Yap Island.

The circulation center of the LPA is weak and elongated, Japan’s MTSAT-2 satellite image also shows that it has quite a way to got to organize, and the likelihood of tropical cyclone formation is low.

Meanwhile, the US Navy’s Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC), the potential for the development of a significant Tropical Cyclone within the next 24 hours is low.
