YouTube Launched Offline Viewing in the Philippines

YouTube, the world’s largest video sharing site owned and managed by Google, launched their newest feature in the Philippines on Thursday, December 11, 2014, allowing mobile users in the country to view videos offline.

The newest features from YouTube is currently available to both iOS and Android devices, Filipino users can view their favorite YouTube videos even without internet connection.

According to YouTube’s announcement, the saved videos will then be available for viewing in the next 48 hours after going offline. The feature is ad-supported, letting users save videos from the site using either a Wi-Fi connection or their data plans.

The announcement of offline YouTube viewing in the Philippines was announced by YouTube Vice President of Engineering John Hardin through a statement. He was quoted as sayaing “By launching a new offline feature for YouTube today, we hope to help people move past the challenges of data connection, speed and cost to enjoy a smooth, buffer-free version of YouTube,” he added.

Meanwhile, Google Philippines country marketing manager Ryan Morales noted that the offline feature of YouTube will help make video content more affordable and accessible in the country.
