Vido Loncar was already suspended by his federation over attack on an official or the referee, the announcement was made by the federation after an emergency session of its executive committee over the incident.

The boxer’s attack to the referee occured on Monday, October 20, 2014, when the Croatian boxer was unhappy with the referee’s decision to halt the match before proclaiming the victory of his rival. The referee was identified as Polish official Magej Dziurgot, he was hit several times before the boxer was dragged outside from the ring.

The Croation boxer was against Lithuanian Algirdas Baniulis who was seen on the viral video footage, fled the ring when Vido Loncar attacked the Polish referee. Meanwhile the Croatian Federation apologized to both World Boxing Organization, the European Boxing Organization and all other relevant boxing bodies for the “damage Loncar caused by his act,” they noted.

The European Youth Championship is taking place in the Croatian capital from October 17 to 26, 2014. The federation also apologized to the family of the referees who was hospitalized after the incident.
