According to the 9-year-old Lyca Gairanod she is so happy to finally have a house of their own, because it is one of her greatest dream. Her family was also grateful with Lyca achieving her goal for their entire family.

In an interview with Umagang Kay Ganda on Thursday, October 16, 2014, Lyca Gairanod was quoted as saying “Masayang-masaya kami kasi first time kong makapunta rito… Hindi na kami mabibiktima ng bagyo kasi tuwing bagyo, lagi kaming nage-evacuate,” she said.

Lyca Gairanod originally lived in Tanza, Cavite to a poor family who collected plastic materials, bottles and other items, a work which is more popularly known as “scavengers” in the Philippines.

Her inclusion as one of the few lucky contestants who made it to The Voice Kids Philippines was her lucky break in the competition. During her audition, she sang the song popularized by Aegis titled “Halik,” which became her bridge to stardom.

Lyca Gairanod’s story was also featured in one of the top-rating episode of MMK, the longest-running drama anthology in the country during the past few episodes of the show, featuring herself portraying the title role.
