10 PH Films To Be Screened At The 3rd Hanoi International Film Festival

Ten Filipino-produced films will be screened at the 3rd edition of Hanoi International Film Festival which will take place on Vietnam on November 23 to 27 this year.

The film producer Dennis Evangelista told the Inquirer that “Magkakabaung (The Coffin Maker)” which was directed by Jason Paul Laxamana will compete in the main section of the festival. The film was filmed in Kapampangan and stars Gladys Reyes and Allen Dizon.

“Magkakabaung” has already competed at the Montreal World Film Festival in August and at the Harlem International Film Festival where Allen Dizon was hailed as the Best Actor.

Joel Lamangan’s “Hustisya” which stars the multi-awarded veteran actress Nora Aunor will be shown alongside with other Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema (NETPAC)-winning films in an exhibition section. Mel Chionglo’s “Lauriana” which stars Valerie “Bangs” Garcia will be featured also in the special section of the Philippines.

Chair of the Film Development Council of the Philippines Briccio Santos confirmed that other Filipino films will be included in the prestigious film festival including Hannah Espia’s “Transit,” Jeffrey Jeturian’s “Ekstra,” Babyruth Villarama-Gutierrez’s “Jazz in Love,”Mikhail Red’s “Rekorder,” Jose Javier Reyes’ “Ano ang Kulay ng mga Nakalimutang Pangarap,” Elwood Perez’s “Otso” and Peque Gallaga and Lore Reyes’ “Sonata.”

Hanoi International Film Festival is held every after two or three years. The festival is considered as the major event of Cinema of Vietnam.
