This Reporter Was Tasked To Cover The Story Of A Missing Child But What He Found Caught Him By Surprise!

Reporters are tasked to report what they see and let their viewers and readers know what’s happening around them. Though at times they are able to witness events in their communities, they have to do their job without getting themselves involved. But sometimes, that’s just impossible.

On Friday, September 26, Florida news reporter Cameron Polom was assigned to cover the story of a missing boy. The 10-year-old Paul Ezekiel Fagan, who was last seen playing in his grandmother’s front yard the afternoon before. After failing to find him on her own, his grandmother Hazel Epps seek the help of authorities.

Fearing that the worst could happen, the police called for a press conference on Paul’s disappearance. And that’s when the reporter for ABC News affiliate WFTS became the part of the story he was covering.

While Cameron was walking through the neighborhood with his cameraman, he noticed a young boy coming out of an overgrown shrub in the yard of a nearby home. He approached the kid and to his surprise, it was the missing boy.

The officers then walked the little boy back to his home where he was reunited with his family who were very thankful that he returned safe. It was also known that the little boy spent the night in their neighbor’s backyard because “he simply needed some space from his brother” as told by the reporter.

It was indeed a happy ending story most reporters don’t get involved in. But hopefully, this serves as an inspiration for Cameron and other reporters to continue their work in finding and covering stories in their community.
