Ph Is Hoping For Gold In Bowling & Taekwondo In Asian Games

Philippine team is hoping to pin gold in bowling and taekwondo competition in the 2014 Asian Games which will be held at South Korea. The 2014 Asian Games is set to happen this September 19-October 4, 2014 in Incheon, South Korea.

TaekwondoOne of the Philippine bowling team was the 2006 World Ten-pin Bowling Champion and the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Game gold medalist, Engelberto Rivera. In which he had actually felt pressured considering on how he can defend his gold medal for about 4 years ago. But then, he also assures that he will be giving his 100 percent on this game.

“There’s actually a lot of pressure for me to defend my singles gold medal four years ago, but I’ve been preparing for this tournament for many years now and I’m expecting myself to give my 100 percent,” he said.

Indeed, the Philippine team is a mix of young and veteran players. They had been traveling in some countries to compete for a friendly game that enhances their skills. Now, they are already in their last part of training.

The team admitted that there are lots of better bowling players than them. But then, they will not simply give up on it. They will fight ’til the end. This is reported in ABS-CBN.

Talking about the taekwondo team, their hopes is for the 2010 Asian bronze and the 2011 Southeast Asian gold medalist who is John Paul Lizardo. He actually hopes for redemption after he lost to South Korea. According to him, he will focus on speed against his opponent.

Philippine teakwondo team has not yet win the gold medal is aiming to bring it home this year.

Aside from the two said sports, Philippine team is also hoping for gold in boxing and wushu.
