Bagyong Luis Storm Signals & Latest Updates (September 13)

The Philippine weather bureau, PAGASA announced on Friday, September 12, 2014 that Storm Signal No. 1 was raised over Catanduanes in the Bicol Region for Bagyong Luis (international name Kalmaegi). The tropical depression Luis packed a maximum sustained winds of 65 kph and gustiness of up to 80 kph, based upon the report posted by GMA News on Friday night.

Update: PAGASA stated that Signal No. 1 was raised in Isabela, Cagayan, Quirino, Aurora and Catanduanes.

Meanwhile, in the latest weather bulletin of PAGASA, issued at around 4:00 AM today, September 13, 2014, the Tropical Depression Luis (Bagyong Luis) was estimated based on all available data at 500 km east of Virac, Catanduanes, with maximum winds of 75 kph and gustiness of up to 90 kph. It is forecast to move west northwest at 17 kph.

According to PAGASA, the province of Catanduanes will experience rains with gusty winds. The ares of Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol Region and Visayas will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstomrs, Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will be partly cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

The Tropical Storm Kalmaegi (Bagyong Luis) is forecasts to make a landfall on Sunday night in Eastern Luzon north of Casiguran and or just east of Iligan City near Palanan, Isabela as noted by the Japanese Meteorological Agency (JMA). According to the agency, the Tropical Storm Kalmaegi is equivalent to Category 1 Storm System.

PAGASA also noted that by Saturday evening, Bagyong Luis could affect Southern Luzon and Visayas, on Sunday morning it will affect Metro Manila areas, and by Sunday evening it may fall over eastern parts of Northern and Central Luzon.

The Philippine weather bureau noted that Bagyong Luis will make a land fall over Eastern parts of Northern and Central Luzon, this coming Sunday night, September 14, 2014. The areas that will likely be hit by Bagyong Luis is the Cagayan-Isabela areas of Eastern Luzon.
