Yolanda Hit Areas In Cebu To Be Visited By NBA Stars

NBA players Robin Lopez and Wesley Matthews  of the Portland Trail Blazers will visit the areas that was been hit by the Super Typhoon Yolanda last year. They will be visiting Cebu in September 12, 2014.

The two will be accompanied by Avery Johnson who was been the former San Antonio Spur as well as the former NBA Coach of the year. This news is based on ABS-CBN News.

They will be supporting the ongoing commitment of NBA n helping children and families that have been affected by the Typhoon Yolanda. There will also be basketball clinics for the local children of the said place.

The NBA Country Manager who is Carlo Singson said that “Typhoon Yolanda caused sweeping destruction on a national scale, and those who were most impacted are still coping with its devastation months after.”

He is also hoping that their visit would be a great help in lifting the spirit of people in Cebu as it is still continues to recover.

“Our community partners, especially the basketball-loving children, will be delighted to meet with the NBA players in what we trust will be a fun and meaningful exchange for both the NBA visitors and the local community,” he added.

Actually, the NBA had contributed support in the victims of Yolanda. It had been more than $2.2 million in relief efforts and $250,000 donation to World Vision in November.

It’s been almost a year since the super typhoon Yolanda had affected some places in the country. Though it had affects many lives of Filipinos, still the unending support and love of other people inside even outside the country had never stopped. Indeed, they are also one of the reasons why people started to recover on the nightmare they had encountered last year.
