Robin Padilla, dubbed as “Bad Boy” of Philippine Cinema, explained to the ABS-CBN News’ Mario Dumaual why he chose Vina Morales to play the role of Gregoria de Jesus, the wife of Andres Bonifacio.

“Ang nangyari kasi noon, itong aming staff, masyado silang masasabi kong metikuloso. May mga unang nabanggit na hindi talaga [okay] sa schedule. Ayaw nila na mag-a-adjust ang production sa big star. Kaya nung tinanong ako, [pinili ko si Vina],” he said.

According to the award-winning actor, it is hard for him to fake the on-screen chemistry with someone whom she never had a connection with. He also said that Vina Morales’ character in the movie is perfect for her.

The 28-year-old Kapamilya star, for her part, said that she is flattered and grateful that her former boyfriend picked her as his leading lady. She is also thankful that Robin Padilla’s wife Mariel Rodriguez is very supportive.

Robin Padilla said that aside from Vina Morales, the young actress Jasmine Curtis-Smith and his nephew, teen heartthrob Daniel Padilla will also be part of the cast.

“Bonifacio: Ang Unang Pangulo”, which is directed by Enzo Williams, will be released on December 25, 2014. The movie will run until the first week of January in the following year.
