National Heroes Day (August 25, 2014) A Regular National Holiday

The Philippine national government already declared the August 25, 2014 as one of the country’s Regular Holiday in celebration of the National Heroes day to commemorate all the nation’s heroes throughout the Philippine history. The National Heroes Day marks the event during the 1896 Revolution, the Cry of Pugadlawin by the Katipunan, the pioneer of the Philippine Revolution.

National Heroes Day 2014

The National Heroes Holiday will be celebrated this coming Monday, August 25, 2014, the national government categorized it as a regular holiday which means that employers are obliged to pay 100% of daily wage if the employee did not work, while 200% will be given if the employee will work during the said holiday.

According to the National Heroes Committee which was set up during the year 1995, they recommend those who should be counted as “National Heroes.” Although the National Heroes Day celebrates both the known and the unknown heroes of the Philippines, the committed recommended the following list of National Heroes.

  • Emilio Aguinaldo
  • Apolinario Mabini
  • Marcelo H. del Pilar
  • Sultan Dipatuan Kudarat
  • Juan Luna
  • Melchora Aquino
