Sakari Momoi: World’s Oldest Man Alive at the Age of 111

Sakari Momoi, a native from Japan has been recognized on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 by Guinness World Records as the World’s Oldest Man alive at the age of 111.

Born on February 5, 1903, the former high school principal received a certificate from the world’s largest record-holding body to confirm his achievement.

The Japanese man told the members of the press that he is not planning to go anywhere yet. He’s currently in a nursing home in Tokyo, Japan.

“I want to live for about two more years,” Sakari Momoi said. The 111-year-old man received the title after he outlasted American Alexander Imich who passed away in June last year

Japan also holds the world record for oldest woman alive introducing Misao Okawa from Osaka who was previously recognized as the oldest female at the age of 116.

According to a local press, despite of her old age, Sakari Momoi is still in good health. In fact, he enjoys watching sumo on television and reading books.

Sakari Momoi was born in Minamisoma in Fukushima, Japan. Based upon the press release statement of Guinness World Records, he migrated to Saitama, north of Tokyo, Japan several years have passed.

This is not the first time that Japan was known in the longevity of its citizens. It is also the home of oldest man ever lived, Jiroemon Kimura, who passed away at the age of 116 in June last year.
