LGU’s Declared “No Classes” on August 5, 2014 Due to Habagat

Some Local Government Units (LGU’s) in Luzon already declared “No Classes” for tomorrow, August 5, 2014, due to Southwest Monsoon (Habaga) affecting Luzon, Cavite and nearby areas in Metro Manila. According to PAGASA’s latest weather bulletin issued at 5:00 PM today, the Metro Manila areas and the rest of Luzon will have occasional rains.

The Province of Cavite through Governor Jonvic Remulla made an announcement on his official Facebook Page about the suspension of classes tomorrow. The governor was quoted as saying “Again, no classes tomorrow, Aug. 5, all levels in the entire province of Cavite. Intermittent rains are being experienced now in the province. Pls stay vigilant.” Gov. Remulla announced on Facebook.

According to PAGASA moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest will prevail over Luzon and Visayas and coming from the south to southwest over Mindanao. The coastal waters of the entire Philippine archipelago will be moderate to rough as PAGASA noted on their latest weather bulletin at around 5:00 PM, August 4, 2014.

Although the Bagyong Jose has slightly weakened according to PAGASA, the weather disturbance continued its path toward the northern regions of the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

Aside from the above-mentioned province that declared “No Classes” for tomorrow, the Province of Eastern Samar, Northern Samar and Western Samar will suspend their classes on Tuesday, August 5, 2014, due to Proclamation No. 759. The specific date, August 5, marks the 124th anniversary of the late Jose Avelino, also known as the “Father of Philippine Workmen’s Compensation Law.”
