Manny Pacquiao Confirmed Plans to Retire in 2016 & Run for Senator (Video)

The Filipino boxing icon, Manny Pacquiao, confirmed his plans to officially retire from his boxing career in the year 2016, in time for the Philippine national elections as he expected to vie for a Senate seat under the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA).

The confirmation of Manny Pacquiao’s retirement was announced during an exclusive interview with Anthony Taberna for “Tapatan Ni Tunying,” which will be aired by ABS-CBN on Thursday at around 4:00 PM.

Manny Pacquiao noted the interview that “There’s a big possibility that I will run for Senate. UNA has asked me to join its slate, and I’m grateful for that,” Pacquiao stated.

With Manny Pacquiao’s confirmation of running for a Senate seat, he is expected to fight four more matches on his boxing career before finally hanging his gloves. Manny Pacquiao is scheduled to defend his WBO welterweight title against American fighter is Chris Mark Algieri, a younger undefeated boxer this coming November.

Aside from Manny Pacquiao’s political plans for the year 2016, the 35-year-old boxer is also set to coach the newest PBA teams in the PBA, the Kia Motors, an expansion team in the PBA.

Manny Pacquiao also revealed durin the interview with Anthony Taberna, he also revealed that he had a phone conversation with Floyd Mayweather to iron out the details of their possible fight, but the deal failed as of this time.
