The top-rating and top-trending afternoon show in the Philippines, It’s Showtime is the main reason why the hashtag “#Salakota” trends worldwide on Tuesday, July 29, 2014. It’s Showtime host Vice Ganda initiated the name of one dancers participating in one segment of It’s Showtime was named as “Salakota” by the comedian, Vice Ganda.

The name Salakota was given by Vice Ganda to one of the dancers participating in the “Gandang Lalake” segment of It’s Showtime during the Tuesday’s live episode of the show.

Salakota amused not only the studio audience but also the netizens who watched the show on Tuesday because of her dramatic act during the episode. The female dancer identified as Salakota was prompted to perform when the contestant picked her among the three “mute” dancers, each of them represented an adjective for the question-and-answer portion of the latest segment on It’s Showtime.

During the “Gandang Lalake” segment of It’s Showtime, the dancers come up with unique acts when they are chosen by a contestant. Salakota acted seriously and emotional as she broke down to tears while appearing to perform planting seeds as a farmer.

Due to the performance made by Salakota, she was able to conquer the Twitter universe as the hashtag Salakota first ranked No. 1 on Twitter Philippines and later it conquered the worldwide trending topics, as netizens expressed their amusement with the Salakota.
