The MMDA and the Quezon City government through Dexter Cardenas, the operations traffic chief of Quezon City Hall noted that they have already implemented a re-routing plan to ensure a smooth flow of traffic during the fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA) by President Benigno S. Aquino III at the Batasan Complex.

The SONA 2014 re-routing plan was already implemented by the Quezon City government and the MMDA at around 3:00 AM on Monday, July 28, 2014. According to the traffic re-routing scheme, at around 12:01 AM, the stretch of Commonwealth Avenue (north and southbound from Quezon Memorial Circle/Philcoa to Fairview (Fairview Center Mall), will be cleared from any traffic obstruction and illegally parked vehicles will be towed.
Quezon City also noted that only the two leftmost lane of Northbound (going Fairview) will be utilized as concrete barriers will be placed in front of St. Peter Parish. At 12:01 AM, Commonwealth Avenue (north bound) will be closed from in front of Ever Gotesco Mall to San Simon U-turn slot.
Here’s the Other Re-Routing Schemes:
- Motorists from Tivoli Royale & other subdivisions behind Ever Gotesco, shall use the U-Turn because the KTV Superstar and Capital/Meralco U-Turn slot will be closed.
- Vehicles from Capitol Estate 1 will utilize St. Peter Church U-Turn Slot in going to north and south direction.
- After the U-Turn Slot, the nine northbound lanes can be normally utilized.
- The IBP Road will be one-way traffic at 12 noon on Monday.
The MMDA and the Quezon City Government also announced that at around 6:00 PM on Monday,the traffic flow along Commonwealth Avenue and IBP/Batasan Road will be back to normal.

-Take U-turn at rotunda Mindanao-Quirino back to Mindanao Avenue
-Right turn to Congressional
-Right turn to EDSA

-Right turn to Old Sauyo Road
-Left turn to Chestnut
