San Mig Coffee Defeated Rain or Shine (92-89), Wins Grand Slam (Highlights Video)

San Mig Coffee Mixers made history as they won the Grand Slam title after they defeated Rain or Shine Elasto Painters in the Game 5 of PBA Governor’s Cup finale on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 with an over-all score of 92-89.

During the finals held the historic Smart Araneta Coliseum, James Yap lead his team on the way to victory. The two-time Most Valuable Player of Philippine Basketball Association won their first ever grand slam title along with his teammates including Marqus Blakely who scored at least 20 points.

Tim Cone, the coach of San Mig Super Coffee Mixers also made name for becoming the first coach to win the much-coveted Grand Slam title twice. He was also behind the success of former PBA champ Alaska which snatched the title in 1996.

The PBA Governor’s Cup finals has been a very tough match between the powerhouse team of San Mig Coffee Mixers and Rain or Shine Elasto Painters with its respective players who played aggressively in every quarter.
