Cherie Gil Explains Sudden Exit From “Ikaw Lamang”

Veteran actress Cherie Gil explained the reasons behind her sudden exit form the hit drama series “Ikaw Lamang” and denied that she has an issue with one of the lead stars Coco Martin.

In an interview with Pep.ph, Cherie Gil, who is famous for her role as Lavinia Arguelles in the 1985 film “Bituing Walang Ningning”, said there is no truth about the rift between him and the award-winning actor.

Cherie Gil made it clear that Coco Martin was not the reason why the production ended the story of her character.

The 51-year-old star said that before they started to shoot the series, it was already clear in her mind that she needed to leave the show to go to US and attend her daughter’s graduation. She is set to leave the country on June 20.

“When I signed for this project, it was clear that I have to leave talaga for the States in June because my daughter is graduating.” she said.

Cherie Gil, who plays the character of Doña Miranda, denied also the issue that she volunteered to write the script in order for her to immediately leave the series.

According to her, she did not write the story for herself alone. She collaborated with the head writer to formulate a good plot on how to end her character right.

Despite of her exit, Cherie Gil said that she was very happy on her character and she was grateful to be part of the series.

“Ikaw Lamang”, which also stars Kim Chiu, Julia Montes and Jake Cuenca, airs every weeknights on Primetime Bida after “Dyesebel”.
