The LTFRB also added that those who don’t have their copies of the official fare matrix adjustments could get it at the LTFRB Central Office in Metro Manila. According to the Board the jeepney drivers could not imposed the P.50 fare increase if the official matrix was not displayed conspicuously inside the vehicle.

Based upon the fare increase a total of P0.50 for the first four kilometers, the former P8.00 regular fare will increase to P8.50 and for every succeeding kilometer or from P1.40 to P1.50, subject to certain conditions.

For the Senior Citizens, Students and Persons with Disabilities, they are still given the 20-percent fare discount, meaning the minimum fare for those passengers will be P6.50.

The LTFRB noted that only the jeepneys within Metro Manila, Region 3 and Region 4 areas are given the new fare matrix with an additional P0.50. The decision of the LTFRB was released on May 30, 2014 which take effect on June 14, 2014.

With the implementation of the 50 centavos increase in jeepney fares, this is the right time that PUJ passengers will no longer ignore the value of the 25-centavo coins, these coins should come in handy for jeepney.
