The Filipino netizens particularly in Twitterverse or Twitter Universe made an alternative histories in 140 characters or less as part of the Philippine Independence Day celebration. Netizens posted the hashtag #RP612fic, a hashtag that conquered the Twitter trending worldwide.
Based upon the tweets in the Philippines the #RP612fic which means “Republic of the Philippines june 12 fiction.”
The hashtag #RP612, is an event spearheaded by Filipino writer Paolo Chikiamco of RocketKapre.com who began the trends last 2009, re-imagining Philippine history yearly since that year.
Some of the most popular tweets, in an instance, what if the father of the Philippine Revolution, the Supremo himself, Andres Bonifacio, traveled through time and chanced upon the “city” named after him and the street name after his beloved Katipunan?
According to the original author of #RP612fic, the Twitter campaign puts Filipino authors coming together on Twitter to create tweet-length stories but needs to leave a space for the hashtag. After the event, Paolo Chikiamco will collate all submissions into a single post on his website.
