“Gangnam Style” Reaches 2 Billion Views on YouTube (Video); Celebrates Milestone with Animation

“Gangnam Style” set a record as PSY’s monster hit single reaches more than 2 billion views on the world’s largest video sharing site, YouTube.

“The most-viewed video on YouTube just hit another jaw-dropping milestone. Congrats on your 2 billionth view, PSY!” YouTube said in statement via its Google+ account.

Gangnam Style which was published on Google-owned YouTube last July 15, 2012 has had 2,000,117,953 views as of posting.

As part of its celebration for dominating in world records in terms of number of views, animated icons which depicts the dancing Korean pop superstar were placed beside the number of views.

By clicking the dancing icons, an animation will appear on top of the video which shows several PSY dancing to beat the mega hit song as it breaches two-billion mark. Gangnam Style reached one billion views before the year 2012 ends.

Meanwhile, another record-breaking hit of PSY, “Gentleman” which has had 688,979,755 YouTube views as of Saturday noon, May 31, 2014 (Philippine Time) is expected to reach mega hit number of views in due time.

Gangnam Style also dominated in Billboards’ Hot 100 list which reigns in 31 weeks. While it has generated countless parodies and versions online, “it also spent approximately three months stuck in just about every human being’s head,” tech website Mashable noted.
