CHED Approved Tuition Fee Increase in 10 Colleges of Region 1

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) already approved the tuition fee increase in at least 10 colleges in Region 1 or Ilocos Region by an average of 9.8% increase. Region 1 is composed of the provinces of Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, and Pangasinan.

According to CHED-Region 1 education supervisor, Angelita Dolores, the colleges got the approval of tuition fee increase after they complied with the guidelines for tuition increase under CHED Memorandum Order 3 Series of 2012.

The approval of Tuition Fee increase in the Ilocos Region was announced during the Kapisanan ng mga Broadkaster sa Pilipinas Forum on Thursday, May 29, 2014.

CHED Region 1 also noted that there are 92 colleges and universities in the Ilocos Region, 82 of which are privately owned and the rest are under the Philippine government or state-run institutions.

Here’s the List of Schools with Approved Tuition Fee Increase:

  • Ashbury College – Anda, Pangasinan
  • Lyceum Northwestern University – Urdaneta City, Pangasinan
  • Metro Dagupan Colleges – Mangaldan, Pangasinan
  • Philippine College of Science and Technology – Calasiao, Pangasinan
  • St. Paul College of Ilocos Sur
  • Lorma Colleges – La Union
  • Northern Philippines College for Maritime Science and Technology – La Union
  • Polytechnic College – La Union
  • Osias Educational Foundation – La Union

Region 1 or the Ilocos Region is composed of four provinces in Northern Luzon namely, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, and Pangasinan. The Regional center of the Ilocos Region is San Fernando City, La Union. The Ilocano language is the dominant language in Region with more than 66% of the residents understands and speaks Ilocano.
