Zoren Legazpi Faces Tax Evasion Case at BIR (Video)

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has filed a tax evasion case against actor Zoren Legazpi.

Based upon the report of Claire Delfin from GMA News TV‘s “Balitanghali,” Zoren Legazpi, the husband of actress Carmina Villaroel is one of the five personalities facing tax evasion case filed by BIR as part of its Run After Tax Evaders or RATE program.

The tax evasion case was issued against Zoren Legazpi for his failure to declare income tax payments for 2010 and 2012 for about P4.45 million including surcharges and interests.

According to the Bureau of Internal Revenue, Zoren Legazpi earned at least P9.64 million in 2010 and P6.49 million in 2012. However, the actor declared that he only earned P6.79 million in 2010 and P1.82 million in 2012 prior to his taxable income.

BIR noted that Zoren Legazpi violated Sections 254 and 255 of the National Internal Revenue Code of 1997 or popularly known as the “Tax Code.”

Aside from Zoren Legazpi, BIR has filed tax evasion charges against renowned personalities including Gigi Donaire Chua, Edgardo Vasquez, Constantino Llanes, and Benedicto Pasco Caguimbal.

BIR Commissioner Kim Henares earlier announced that they will continue in running after those who are not paying taxes correctly.

Kim Henares also gave her reminders for popular celebrities who are not declaring their taxes correcly. Zoren Legazpi has yet to air any statement regarding his tax evasion case.
