Metro Manila Heat Soared to 36.2 Degrees Celcius According to PAGASA

The country’s capital, Metro Manila experienced one of the hottest temperature for the past few days as PAGASA noted that the Metro’s heat soared to 36.2 degrees Celsius on Wednesday afternoon. The high temperature was recorded by PAGASA on their main office facilities located in Quezon City.

In a recent interview conducted by Interaksyon, PAGASA weather observer Mel Duque said that the maximum temperature was recorded at around 3:00 PM at he Science Garden in Quezon City, Metro Manila.

The 36.2 degrees Celsius temperature readings yesterday was just two points shy of the highest 36.4 degrees Celcius recorded last May 1, 2014. Based on Philippine climatological record, the hottest temperature in Metro Manila was recorded on May 14, 1987 at 38.5 degrees Celsius.

PAGASA also noted that other parts of Luzon Provinces including Metro Manila, may experience hotter days due to the easterly winds which will be the dominant weather systems in the country this summer.

Due to the high temperature recorded in various parts of the country, PAGASA advised that to avoid heat exhaustion, people should stay indoors as much as possible, the temperature could also climb up to 37 degrees Celsius in the next few days to come.

Residents of Metro Manila and in other provinces in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao are advised to wear clothing made of light materials with light colors, to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water and to avoid eating food high in protein, which can increase body heat.

Meanwhile the hottest temperature recorded in the country this year was observed in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan last April 25, 2014 at 39 degrees Celsius. The city also holds the record of the hottest temperature ever recorded in the Philippines last May 11, 1969 at 42.2 degrees celsius.
