US “No VISA” Policy for Filipinos A Hoaxed

An online news report claiming that the United States has announced a “NO-VISA” Policy for Filipinos is just a hoax, as confirmed by Philippine and US officials. The Philippine Emb(–foul word(s) removed–)y in Washington noted that there is no truth to such report announcing “Visa-Free” for Pinoys travelling to the United States.

“The Emb(–foul word(s) removed–)y of the Republic of the Philippines would like to inform the public that there is no truth to what appears to be an online news report that the United States has announced a ‘no visa’ policy for Filipinos. The Emb(–foul word(s) removed–)y has been in touch with the US Department of State, which has denied making such an announcement,” it said.

Recent news surfaced on various social networking sites is just “a satirical piece that should not be taken seriously.” The article was first published by Adobo Chronicles, one of the countries most popular satirical website.

The article claimed that the US Department’s announcement is a “life-changing new policy for Filipinos. Aside from various claims made by Adobo Chronicles, the noted that US Secretary of State John Kerry said the State Department “made this monumental decision as a way to reward the Filipinos for making the U.S. really look good in the survey.” the article noted.

Although the website is best noted as “source of unbelievable news,” netizens continue to share the article on their various social media profiles. The Department of Foreign Affairs in the Philippines already released to the public the official list of countries that granted the Philippines “No-Visa” access.
