DOJ Secretary Leila de Lima Orders NBI to Arrest Cedric Lee

Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Leila de Lima has ordered the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) the arrest of businessman Cedric Lee and four others accused in the grave coercion case of Vhong Navarro who were not able to post bail.

Cedric Lee, Ferdinand Guerrero, Bernice Lee, Simeon Raz and Jose Paolo Calma are among the seven people charged of serious illegal detention and grave coercion cases in relation with the mauling of actor-host Vhong Navarro last January 22, 2014.

According to the reports earlier, only Deniece Cornejo and Jed Fernandez were able to surrender and posted a P12,000 bail. The identified suspect on the attack of “It’s Showtime” co-host who were not able to post bail is set for arrest over Lenten Break a report from ABS-CBNnews confirmed.

The arrest warrants against the suspects; Cedric Lee, Deniece Cornejo, Ferdinand Guerrero, Bernice Lee, Simeon Raz, Jed Hernandez and Jose Paolo Calmahas  has been issued by Taguig Municipal Trial Court (MTC) last week. They can only post bail on Monday, April 21, 2014.

Judge Bernard Bernal of Taguig Municipal Trial Court (MTC) branch 74 issued the warrants of arrest after “probable cause” were established for grave coercion and serious illegal detention cases filed by Vhong Navarro.

Cedric Lee and company has yet to air any statement regarding his arrest ordered by the Department of Justice. The controversial businessman was earlier summoned by the government’s justice system body for his more than P194 million tax evasion case filed by the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR).
