Malaya Watson Airs Statement After American Idol Elimination

Malaya Watson, the Filipino-American contestant on American Idol Season 13 2014 fought back tears as she faced the media to air a statement after being eliminated on the 13th season of Americas most popular singing competition, American Idol.

Though it was heartbreaking for the 16-year-old singer from Southfield, Michigan, Malaya Watson remained positive as she expressed her gratitude to her Filipino fans who supported her throughout her American Idol journey.

“I did what I wanted to do and I’m glad I came out doing what I like. Thanks, guys. You guys are the best, and just stay tuned because I’m not done. I’m not done,” Malaya Watson said in an interview with ABS-CBNnews and other members of the press.

Malaya Watson failed to impressed the judges and the viewers with her rendition of “Through the Fire” by Chaka Khan and has received lowest number of votes on the elimination earlier.

The American singer with Filipino roots also expressed her admiration to fellow Fil-Am American Idol finalist Jessica Sanchez. Marian Bandico Watson, her Filipino mom flew from Michigan to Hollywood to witness her performance.

During the elimination round of American Idol on Thursday night, April 10, 2014 (US Time), Malaya Watson and C.J. Harris were placed at the Bottom 2. She will return on the American Idol stage for its finale in May, 2014.

The Top 7 finalist of American Idol 2014 will gear up for upcoming A.I. US tour which will land this summer.
