LRT 1 & 2 Operations Suspended from April 17-20, 2014 (LRT Holy Week Schedule)

Filipinos will celebrate one of the most important holidays on Christian calendar, the Holy Week celebration next week. In view of this, the Light Rail Transit Autority (LRTA) announced on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 that LRT Lines 1 and 2 will be suspended from April 17, until April 20, 2014.

The Maundy Thursday will be celebrated on April 17 followed by Good Friday on April 18, the Easter Sunday will be celebrated on April 20, 2014. Aside from the announcement of non-operations on Maundy Thursday until Easter Sunday, LRTA also noted that operations of LRT Lines 1 and 2 on April 16, Holy Wednesday, will be until 8:00 PM and 8:30 PM respectively.

The LRT’s suspension of operation will give way to the annual maintenance works which include the general cleaning and checking of the trains, LRT facilities, systems and equipment, and the replacement of catenary wires.

Normal operations of LRT Line 1 and Line 2 will resume on Monday, April 21, 2014 at around 5:00 AM. The Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line 1 runs from Baclaran in Pasay City to Roosevelt in Quezon City.

The Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line 2 operates from C.M. Recto Avenue in Manila to Santolan in Pasig City.

The Philippine National Government already declared April 18 and 19 as a Regular Holiday while April 20, 2014 was also declared as a Special Non-Working Holiday.
