Just like his grandfather, who is a also lawyer, Mike is a graduate of the University of the Philippines College of Law – from where Nielson G. Pangan who topped the 2013 Bar came from.

The 28-year-old passer has told her grandmother, Ilocos Norte Representative Imelda Marcos that he was sorry for not topping the Bar exam just like his Lolo.

In an interview with ABS-CBNNews.com, the younger Manotoc said he was able to talk to his mother Imee and his “lola” – former First Lady Imelda Marcos – immediately after receiving news that he passed the Bar.

“I said sorry because I did not top the Bar, unlike Lolo. They said it doesn’t matter. I guess they’re very proud,” Mike said.

In her Facebook page, Imee expressed her joy over the triumph of her son.

“Proud of my 4th generation UP Law son Atty. Michael Marcos Manotoc for passing the Bar Exam. Even if i didn’t want him to be a lawyer, i am so happy he is one now!” she posted.

Mike Manotoc is currently part of the SyCip, Salazar, Hernandez & Gatmaitan Law office, together with the Bar exams second placer, Mark Xavier Oyales and he plans to to pursue for now a career in the private sector.
