Filipino-American contestant of American Idol 2014, Malaya Watson made her own rendition of the song “I Am Changing” as popularized by Jennifer Hudson from the movie “Dream Girls” during the Top 11 performance videos on March 12, 2014 (US Time) Live Show.

The 16-year-old Malaya Watson who is a member of Southfield High School Marching Band as Tuba Player is an alumnus of the Mosaic Youth Theater of Detroit and Michigan Opera Theatre Children’s Chorus, impressed the judges of the American Idol during her performance in Top 11.

The Fil-Am finalist of American Idol Season 13 is vying for the Top 10 slot in the competition, and to secure a ticket to join the elite cast of Finalist who will be joining the American Idol Finalist in making their countrywide tour for the 2014 season of American Idol.

The Top 11 Finalist of the American Idol are composed of the following singers: Alex Preston, Ben Briley,C.J. Harris, Caleb Johnson, Dexter Roberts, Jena Irene, Jessica Meuse, Majesty Rose,Malaya Watson, MK Nobilette and Sam Woolf.

Here’s the Judges Verdict of Malaya Watson’s Performance:

Jennifer  Lopez: – “yes! Good girl Malaya! That’s a perfect song for and a perfect way to end the show.  That was killer, you have an amazing voice, oh my God!”

Harry Connick Jr.:  “I’ve hear people say there’s no big belter among the group, you just showed everybody that there is a big belter.  Over the years your voice is going to get bigger.”

Keith Urban:  “That song was perfect to play to your strengths, there are places where you could reign it in, but it’s just the adrenaline.  What you got in there that is going to blossom is just magnificent.”
