PMPC Issues Statement on Jobert Sucaldito’s Vote Buying Allegations

Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC), the organizer of the Star Awards for Movies 2014, has issued a statement regarding the pressing controversy on the vote-buying allegations of Jobert Sucaldito against comedian Vice Ganda who won the Best Actor Award.

The awarding ceremony for PMPC-Star Awards for Movies was conducted last Sunday, March 9, 2014 at Solaire Resorts and Casino.

PMPC, the organizers for the 30th Star Awards for Movies said that they “strongly refute” on the vote-buying allegations of columnist and broadcast journalist Jobert Sucaldito against Vice Ganda who won the much-coveted Best Actor Award.

Jobert Sucaldito recently took his Facebook account to reveal the supposed winner for Best Actor Award and he shared his insight on the controversial recognition of Vice Ganda.

 “The Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) is saddened by the unfortunate turn of events at the recently concluded 30th PMPC Star Awards for Movies.

“Immediately after the awards ceremonies, a malicious allegation circulated in social media questioning the veracity of our Best Actor winner.

“We strongly refute the said allegation. The voting members gave their utmost trust and confidence to the winners in their respective categories, thereby making the results final, incontestable, and sacred.

“For the past three decades of Star Awards for Movies, the PMPC has weathered the hardest obstacles and has remained undaunted.

“There will be forces that will try to destroy the credibility and reputation of the club, but the PMPC will remain committed to its objectives, and no amount of intimidation and coercion can shake its foundation.

“The PMPC, its Board of Directors and Members will always stand firm on their decision.”

The 37-year-old Vice Ganda won the highly coveted Best Actor Award for his MMFF 2013 movie  “Girl Boy Bakla Tomboy.”
