The lone Filipino-American contestant of American Idol 2014 Finals, Malaya Watson enters the Top 11 Finalist of the American Idol after one of the finalist, Emily Piriz was eliminated on Thursday night (ET).
The 15-year-old tuba player from Southfield High School managed to enter the Top 11 after she performed the song “Take Me To The King” a song popularized by Tamala Mann during the live performance on Wednesday night (Thursday morning Philippines).

During Malaya Watson’s performance on American Idol Top 12 she received a standing ovation from the judges and even brought one Jennifer Lopez to tears with her latest performance in America’s most popular singing competition.
Malaya Watson dodge an elimination last week after she was included in the Bottom 3 during the announcement of Top 12 finalist but she managed to secure a spot in the competition and returns strongly a week later.
The Filipino-American Idol contestant also featured her new hair style, the name Watson means “freedom” according to an article written by Inquirer. During the American Idol Top 12 Results, contestant Emily Piriz was sent home after the judges decided to end her American Idol stint.
For next week performances, Malaya Watson will perform against Ben Briley, Alex Preston, Jena Irene, Dexter Roberts, Majesty Rose, Sam Woolf, CJ Harris, Jessica Meuse, Caleb Johnson and MK Nobilette.
