San Miguel Boosts Championship Bid, Signs NBA Vet Oscar Boone for Comm’s Cup

After changing their name back to the iconic San Miguel tag and undergoing to a major revamp, the Beermen now named NBA veteran Josh Boone as their import in the coming Commissioner’s Cup.

Boone, who was drafted 27th overall by New Jersey in 2006, is set to arrive this weekend to join the new-looked San Miguel on practice.

The 29-year old reinforcement averaged a career-high 8.2 points and 7.3 rebounds inside 25.3 minutes of action in his second year in the NBA. He suited up for four seasons with the Nets and recorded 5.2 points and 4.9 rebounds averages playing for 256 games.

Listed as 6’10, Boone might have problem with the 6’9 height limit for a qualified import for the Beermen this coming conference but Newly-appointed head Coach Biboy Ravanes believes their prospect will be measured fit in the limit.

Had the former University of Connecticut standout’s be eligible, Boone will shore up San Miguel’s frontcourt already consists of BPC awardee Junmar Fajardo, Arwind Santos, Doug Khramer and new player Rico Maierhofer.

The 6’5 Maierhofer along with explosive guard Sol Mercado were acquired in a big deal that the Beermen have made in the off-season, which saw Alex Cabagnot being shipped to Global Port.
