The Department of Education (DepEd) of the Republic of the Philippines released the results of the October 2013 Alternative Learning System Accreditation and Equivalency Test (ALS-A&E) on February 21, 2014.
According to the announcement made by DepEd there are 6,135 out of 24,998 applicants passed the examination for the Elementary Level. In the secondary Level there are 72,076 successful passers of the exam out of 221,598 takers.

The Alternative Learning System – A&E is targeted to all school drop-outs, homeschooled, those who have not attended the Philippines formal school system, and those who have not finished basic education system but are basically literate.
The ALS – A&E was administered in a total of 17 regions nationwide as conducted by the Bureau of Alternative Learning System (BALS) of the Department of Education. The examination is used to be known as the non-formal education test.
The Alternative Learning System A & E Exam is conducted free by the Department of Education from Registration, Administration and Certification. All passers are given a diploma or certificate certifying the passers’ competency as comparable to the graduates of the formal school system.
