Manila Skyway Construction Traffic Re-Routing Plans Revealed

The Manila Skyway Stage 3 Construction projects is already started on Monday, February 17, 2014. The Skyway O & M Corporation (Somco) released the rerouting plans and options for motorists to avoid heavy traffic.

Somco posted an image on their official Twitter account the alternate routes while the Manila Skyway is under construction. Designated alternate routes are Edsa, Quirino, Avenue, Taft Avenue, Roxas Boulevard, Macapagal Avenue and Ayala Avenue among others.

The construction project of the Skyway Stage 3 starts on Monday night, it will also coincides with the construction of another road work connecting the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Expressway Phase 2 to the Seaside Entertainment City.

The Manila Skyway Stage 3 is one of the major projects of the Aquino administration. The 14.8 kilometer, six-lane expressway was launched last January 22, 2014.

The project is expected to reduce travel time from Buendia to Balintawak from two hours to 20 minutes or less but the construction will surely cause heavy traffic in various areas in Metro Manila.

The Manila Skyway project is worth P26.7 billion, the finish, the project will complete the Skyway System from Alabang to Balintawak and will connect the two major expressways in the Philippines, the South Luzon Expressway (Slex) and the North Luzon Expressway (Nlex).

The project will connect Skyway Stage 1 at Buendia, runs along runs along Osmeña Highway, Quirino Ave. to Plaza Dilao, and cross the Pasig River, then cuts through at the back of SM Sta. Mesa towards G. Araneta Ave., crossing Aurora Blvd., E. Rodriguez and Quezon Ave. towards Sgt. E. Rivera then along A. Bonifacio towards Balintawak.
