UST Approved Academic Calendar Shift, School Opening on July

The oldest Catholic University in the Philippines, the University of Santo Tomas (UST) has approved the Academic Calendar shift and the opening of its college cl(–foul word(s) removed–) will start on July and ends on May.

UST announced the approval of academic year shift from its usual June-March cl(–foul word(s) removed–) into July-May cl(–foul word(s) removed–) which will take effect for the School Year 2014-2015.

According to an article posted by the official college paper of UST, the Varsitarian, the UST’s Office of the Secretary General said that change in the academic calendar is supposed to be in preparation for the integration of the (–foul word(s) removed–)ociation of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in 2015.

In the publication of UST, they stated that the change is “a gradual transition to a much later date for the opening of the school year in 2015-2016 and onwards,” said Secretary General Fr. Winston Cabading, O.P. in a memorandum  dated Feb. 11.

The Academic Calendar of the University of Sto. Tomas is also posted on their Official Facebook Page with their corresponding schedules. The UST will open the 2014-2015 academic calendar with a “M(–foul word(s) removed–) of the Holy Spirit” on July 7, 2014.

The University of Sto. Tomas will now join the University of the Philippines (UP) System with the exception of UP-Diliman and the Ateneo de Manila University that announced their shift in its academic calendar from June-March to August-May.
