Gerry Velasques, Regine’s Father Dies at 76

Kapuso star Regine Velasquez father, Gerry Velasquez dies at an age of 76 years old, the news of the untimely demise of her father was confirmed by the singer-actress through her official Instagram account.

The 43-year-old singer posted the following message on Instagram “The leader of the band, Mang Gerry, joined his creator at 1:39 p.m. Thank you for praying for him during all this time that he has been fighting for his life. God bless you all.” Regine posted.

In an interview with Inquirer, Regine’s husband singer-songwriter Ogie Alcasid told the media that “God comforts (my wife) always.” he said.

Earlier on Monday, Regine Velasquez arrived late during a press conference as part of the promotion of her Valentine concert, “Voices of Love.” According to the actress she attended a family emergency because her father Gerry Velasquez was rushed to the hospital, the day before and she had slept late.

Regine Velasquez was also positive and expressed hope that her loving father will be there on her Valentine show this coming February 14, 2014 at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The father of Regine is known in show business as Mang Gerry, he was fondly remembered by Regine Velasquez peers as a “regular” in her concerts and shows. Mang Gerry is also credited for the Asia’s Songbird training during her youth as an aspiring singer.
