Fiba Considers Philippines to Stage 3×3 Asia-Pacific tournament

Following a successful hosting of the country of the Fiba Asia championship last August, the Philippines is now being offered to host the 3×3 Asia-Pacific competition on July.

This development was bared by Samahang Basketbolng Pilipinas (SBP) president Manny V. Pangilinan on Saturday in the Philippine Sportswriters (–foul word(s) removed–)ociation (PSA) annual Awards.

“I’m pleased to report that this week, we received word from Fiba, proposing that Manila hosts the 3×3 Asia-Pacific Competition, as part of its 3×3 World Tour Masters,” Pangilinan said. (Statement from Spin.ph)

The business tycoon also detailed that it will be held from July 19 to 20 with 12 teams from Asia and Oceania teams are set to join the event.

Though it has less popularity compared to the standard 5 on 5 Fiba games, the world basketball body already constructed world championships for the world tour masters as it slowly gaining following in the globe as well.

The big basketball patron also added that more than just a stop for the competition, the Fiba is also considering Manila to be the venue of the World tour finals.

As for the team that will represent the country, National team head Coach Chot Reyes still can’t name the players that will be sent to compete in the tournament.
