King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden Visits Tacloban

King Carl XVI Gustaf, the reigning monarch of Sweden is currently in the country for a 3-day visit in the worst-hit Tacloban City, Leyte devastated by super typhoon Yolanda last year.

King Carl XVI Gustaf was welcomed with no less than President Benigno Aquino III and other government officials during his arrival on Friday, January 24,2014.

King Carl XVI Gustaf visited the Philippines to follow-up the projects conducted by the Boy Scouts of the Philippines implemented through the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (Unocha).

The first visit of the royalty aims to promote interrelations between Sweden and Philippines wherein he will be staying here in the country from Jan. 24-26 as guest of honor for the Invitational Peace Jamboree of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines in their centennial anniversary.

King Carl XVI Gustaf who has served the World Scout Foundation (WSF) since 1977  as the chairman was accompanied by the Presidential Security Group (PSG) at the Malacañan Palace st exactly 3 p.m. on Friday.

Meanwhile, Vice President Jejomar Binay and at the same time the President of Boy Scout of the Philippines and other Philippine government officials accommodated the Swedish king and other WSF staff in a dinner held.

King Carl XVI Gustaf who served the Swedish monarchy for 40 years is the second cousin of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom. King Carl XVI Gustafis married to Queen Silvia Sommerlath and has three children namely Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Carl Philip, and Princess Madeleine.
