Vilma Santos Best Actress in 13th Dhaka International Film Fest

The “Star for All Seasons” Vilma Santos was named as Best Actress in the recently concluded 13th Dhaka International Film Festival held in Bangladesh for her remarkable performance in the indie film “Ekstra.”

The 60-year-old Vilma Santos bested a total of 21 other lead actress from the Asia Pacific Region, including Australia. Vilma Santos added another honor to her name as she was previously honored as Best Actress for “Ekstra” at the 2013 Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival 2013 and the Gawad Tanglaw Awards 2014.

The movie “Ekstra” tells about the touching drama-comedy that evolves around of the life of bit players (ekstra) in the movie and TV industry. Vilma Santos played the role of “ekstra” Loida Malabanan. PhilNews.Ph.

“Ekstra” already gained international recognition during the 38th Toronto International Film Festival as par of the international premiere of the Contemporary World Cinema.

The movie is directed by Jeffrey Jeturian and produced by ABS-CBN’s Star Cinema and Quantum Films. The first-ever Indie Film of Vilma Santos also features Cherie Gil, Pilar Pilapil, Nico Antonio, Tom Rodriguez, Direk Marlon Rivera, Vince de Jesus and Tart Carlos, with the special participation of Richard Yap, Marian Rivera and Piolo Pascual.
