World-renowned civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr., is considered as one of most prolific orator in the history of the United States. His famous “I Have a Dream” speech is lectured in history subjects in the US.

There are numerous recordings archived by the United States and his followers worldwide but one of his remarkable speech was unearthed by museum archivists recently.

The once-lost audio reveals a speech of Martin Luther King, Jr., delivered to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s Preliminary Emancipation Proclamation in 1962.

The New York State Museum rediscovered the speech on reel-to-reel magnetic tape, and uploaded it on YouTube on Monday, January 20, 2014 (US Time), as part of the online exhibition.

According to a news report from Mashable, the officials of the New York State Education Department, stated that its copy is the only known recording of King’s speech.

The Martin Luther King, Jr., speech happened during the New York State Civil War Centennial Commission gathering held at the Park Sheraton Hotel on September 12, 1962.
