LPA Agaton Expected to Form Into Cyclone (PAGASA Jan. 16)

The Low Pressure Area (LPA) that hits the Eastern Visayas and CARAGA Region could trigger flash floods and landslides as Cyclone is expected to form in the next 24 hours, PAGASA reported on their latest weather bulletin issued on January 16, 2014.

In a weather report posted by ABS-CBN, weather forecaster Samuel Duran of PAGASA, said that the lingering Low Pressure Area (LPA) east of Mindanao is expected to intensify into a Tropical Depression on Thursday or Friday. 

According to Samuel Duran should the LPA intensify into a tropical depression, it will be named “Agaton,” the first cyclone for the year 2014 that will hit the Philippines. Based upon the latest weather forecast of PAGASA posted at 5:00 AM of January 16, 2014, the LPA remains at sea, it will land anew, this time as a tropical depression.

Eastern Visayas and Caraga will experience cloudy skies with moderate to occasionally heavy rains and thunderstorms.

Bicol region and the rest of Visayas and Northern Mindanao will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms.

Cagayan Valley and the province of Aurora will be cloudy with light rains. Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated light rains. The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rains or thunderstorms.
