The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) reported earlier that a total of 47,000 jobs are now available for Filipino seafarers particularly workers for the newest international cruise ships.

Most international shipping companies are expanding their operations worldwide and they need skilled Filipino workers to fill up their recent vacancies. Working in a cruise ship is one of the most luxurious jobs a Filipino could get. The Philippines is not only the source of workers for international liners but some cruise ships have also included the Philippines on their itineraries particularly the island of Boracay.
There are various shipping companies in the country that caters those interested applicants, according to POEA chief Hans Leo Cacdac, the prospects to land a job in cruise ships for Pinoy seafarers are bright.
