Metro Manila Workers’ Basic Pay Increase by PhP15.00

The minimum wage earners in the National Capital Region (NCR) will received an increase in basic pay following the integration of the P15.00 of the existing P30.00 Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) as provided under Wage Order NCR-No. 18.

DOLE Secretary Baldoz

The National Capital Region’s minimum wage for private sector workers is now at P466.00 composed of the P451.00 basic pay and the other P15.00 of the existing COLA.

The Department of Labor Employment through DOLE Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz issued a statement to remind private sector employees in the NCR of the P15.00 increase.

The DOLE Secretary was quoted as saying “Wage Order NCR-No.18 provides for a P10 additional pay effective 1 October 2013, and the integration to the basic pay of the P15 of the existing P30 COLA provided under Wage Order NCR-No. 17, which took effect on 1 January 2014,” said Baldoz.

According to DOLE, the integration also means an increase in minimum wage earners’ 13th month pay, overtime pay, night shift differential pay, and other statutory benefits.

The P15.00 increase in minimum wage applies to all workers in the private sector in NCR regardless of their position, designation, or status of employment, and irrespective of the method by which they are paid.

The newly-announced wage increase excludes, household service or domestic helpers; persons in the personal service of another, including family driver, and workers of duly-registered Barangay Micro Business Enterprises with Certificate of Authority.
