The Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church of Christ) made an official statement about the rumors that spread online for the past few days denying the allegations that they refused to shelter some victims of Typhoon Yolanda in Iloilo City.

INC Minister Brother Jose Vetilacion denied the allegation during an interview with New Zealand TV, wherein he was quoted as saying that “there were many non-Iglesia Ni Cristo members who were sheltered in the Tacloban house of worship. Not only in Tacloban, but also in other places that sought Iglesia ni Cristo for refuge,” Vetilacion stated.

Aside from denying the allegations of refusing to shelter some typhoon victims, the Iglesia Ni Cristo launched a worldwide campaign to aid the typhoon victims with the launching of a new website, the www.kabayankokapatidko.org.

The launching ceremony was held at the Manila Ballroom of the Manila Hotel on Monday, November 18, 2013, according to INC, the website was unveiled to “formally introduce to the world the outreach project’s mission, vision and activities.”

During the opening message of Bro. Bienvenido Santiago, he said the project, involving all members of the INC led by the Executive Minister Bro. Eduardo V. Manalo, would “extend aid not only to our countrymen here in the Philippines but also in other parts of the world.”

The website features the highlights of the “Kabayan Ko, Kapatid Ko” (My Countryman, My Brother) humanitarian mission and other programs of the INC. Photos and videos of outreach activities can also be found in the site’s homepage.

INC ministers who were headed by Bro. Jose Ventilacion, were given the task to develop and oversee the setting up of the online page. Although the project was launched on April 2013, to carry out INC’s two-fold mission of edifying its flock and evangelizing the world, the official website was unveiled on a later date.
