Japan Send Almost 1,200 Troops to Join Relief Efforts in Yolanda-Hit Areas

The national government of Japan will send almost 1,200 troops to the Philippine to join the international relief efforts conducted by various countries in the world after the central Visayas provinces was hit by one of the world’s worst super typhoon.

Japan will be sending a total of 1,200 troops to the Philippines along with their three warships, 10 planes and six helicopters in their single largest aid deployment by the Japanese military.

According to Japan’s ministry, about 1,170 members of the Japan’s Self-Defense Forces (SDF) will provide medical support and quarantine services, and transport relief goods, based upon a statement released on Friday.

The Japanese aircraft which will be helping typhoon Yolanda victims include seven C-130H transport planes, two KC-767 tanker planes and one U-4 multi-purpose support plane.

The initial deployment of Japan were their 50 SDF members who arrived last Tuesday to (–foul word(s) removed–)ist in medical support and transport operations. Many of the Japanese contingent will be (–foul word(s) removed–)igned in Samar and Tacloban City, Leyte.
